After reading Miyamoto Musashi's _Book of Five Rings_ to kill some time, I felt like doodling a samurai of some sort, and then the drawing just refused to die. O.x So, I ended up trying to make something similar to Japanese brush paintings. I didn't try to mimick the style exactly (especially when it came to the lineart <.< ), but I think the palette, coloring style, and pattern work are pretty similar to what you find in them...?

Patterns were taken from photographs by mailtobee and mordoc at sxc.hu.

I signed the name "ExMachina" in katakana (Ekusumakina xD) and the date in kanji.

Wow Ex! This really turned out very well! It does have a very similar look to the Jap brush paintings, just from the colours, composition and content. I love the pose the guy and tiger are in. There's also something very attractive about the simplicity of the sun and clouds. I see you found some great asian designs to stick on the clothing. Though on the pants the patterns feel a bit strong, but they're not a big deal.

The katakana, really cool. Adds a lot of flavour.

You are a machina. lol.
